Dynamic Discussions in the Heart of Spain

Madrid, Spain

This September in Madrid, Spain, over 140 military officers, attorneys, and experts from academia from 33 different nations around the globe convened for COE CSW’s 7th annual Conference on Operational Maritime Law. Throughout the week, participants critically examined contemporary legal issues facing the maritime law community including freedom of the seas and freedom of navigation, new waterways and special regimes, unmanned maritime systems, and artificial intelligence and humans rights concerns.
The conference provided a forum for participants to discuss a broad variety of relevant topics and exchange views, with the aim to improve interoperability for the Alliance and partners to influence current and prospective operations. The rich history of Spain and vibrant city of Madrid provided the perfect backdrop for these thought-provoking conversations and fostered the environment of international cooperation and collaboration.
We are proud to announce our 8th Conference which will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania 5-8 October 2020. For more information about COE CSW legal activities, visit www.operationalmaritimelaw.org.
