Unmanned Underwater Vehicles play a key role in prospective maritime operations. It is therefore self-evident that the COE CSW is deeply involved in the issue. Presently we are working on a number of related projects such as the NATO Smart Defense Project 1.44 FIT FOR CSW , and the Employment of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) in Naval Mine Warfare.

From 20 till 21 September 2016 international subject matter experts from academia, defence industry and military convened for a 2nd workshop at the COE CSW in Kiel in order to discuss and evaluate upcoming challenges concerning the skills and capabilities of next generation naval mine countermeasure AUVs. The results will be summarized in a study due by end of next year.
