NATO Force Readiness Check

Standing NATO Forces are regularly evaluated in order to assure full compliance with NATO standards and requirements, which is a key prerequisite for Allied operational readiness. Within this context, the COE CSW is regularly supporting the Headquarters Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) in the evaluation of the Standing NATO Mine Counter Measures Groups (SNMCMG).

From 21 till 25 August 2017 a COE CSW Subject Matter Expert augmented the MARCOM Evaluation Team for conducting the readiness check of SNMCMG1, consisting of four vessels and lead by Commander Gvido LAUTUPS from the Latvian Navy. The evaluation was conducted during the Exercise OPEN SPIRIT 2017 in the Gulf of Riga. The staff and the flagship have been faced with comprehensive challenges as well as demanding tasks, and proved beyond any doubt their high operational readiness.

The Maritime Evaluation of SNMCMG1 was also the first opportunity to test the revised NATO publication AFS Vol. VIII and a new data based tool.

With this activity, the COE CSW once more provided well recognised competence and tangible support for the benefit of NATO.
